Waitlist & Referrals

Pre-launch waitlist for a startup that wanted early signups to bring their friends. Visitors join from the landing page, receive a personal referral link, and move up the queue for every referral, while the founders track signups and referral sources in an admin view and export the list when it is time to invite people.

  • Next.js
  • Supabase
  • Vercel

01

The problem

A startup preparing to launch wanted a waitlist that would grow on its own. A plain email form collected addresses but gave visitors no reason to share, and the founders had no way to see where signups came from or who their most enthusiastic early users were.

02

The solution

I built the waitlist on Next.js and Supabase, deployed on Vercel. Visitors join from the landing page and immediately receive a personal referral link, their position in the queue moves up with every referral, and a small admin view shows signups over time, referral sources, and the top referrers. The list can be exported when it is time to send invitations.

03

The result

The waitlist grew through referrals rather than just ad spend, the founders learned which channels brought engaged users, and when launch day came they had a ranked list of people to invite first. The whole thing shipped in days and needed no maintenance while it ran.
