Kindergarten Portal

Communication between kindergartens and parents ran on paper notes in backpacks, phone calls, and group chats that mixed everyone's messages together. Parents missed announcements, staff answered the same questions many times, and there was no single place to see what a child's group had been doing.

I built a portal where each kindergarten has its own space. Staff post daily updates and announcements to a child's group, parents log in to follow their child's group and message the school directly, and administrators manage groups, staff, and enrolments. The application was built with Spring Boot and JSF on a MySQL database, with role-based access so parents only see what concerns their own children.

Parents get updates in one place and can reach the school without digging through group chats, and staff spend less time repeating information. The project also gave me early, hands-on experience with a full Java web stack, from data modelling to authentication, that I carried into later work.
